The growing network of Median Wind power along our highways will provide the ideal infrastructure needed to fuel electric vehicles for extended range. Smart battery exchange stations would be located at or near the Median Wind sub stations to provide automated replacement of depleted vehicle batteries with fully charged batteries.

To make this possible, Median Wind is developing a system involving modular battery trays and laser guided robotic arms. An automated laser locator pinpoints the exact position of the vehicle batteries and a robotic arm opens the vehicle’s access door to remove them. The mechanical arm would then insert a fully charged battery tray and close the access door. In this way, the batteries in an electric vehicle can be effortlessly swapped out in less time than is traditionally required to fill a tank with gasoline.

Vehicles would share the same battery tray configuration allowing for "plug and play" interchange of batteries. Depleted batteries removed from incoming vehicles would be recharged with power from the Median Wind turbines and made ready for future vehicles.
