Median Wind is an innovative new distributed generation company seeking to change the way power is generated, transmitted, and consumed. By using our existing highway system to generate wind energy and transmit it through a smart electricity grid, we can help achieve a carbon-neutral, pollution-free, and sustainable power economy that is domestically produced and cost-effective.

Under development since 2005, the Median Wind turbine generator is the first of several breakthrough power technologies. And because new sources of power require improved electricity transmission lines, we have developed a system to utilize the string of Median Wind turbines to serve as a grid itself. Making that grid a “smart-grid” will allow better integration of alternative and conventional energy sources.

Median Wind was founded by Roger Haskell after noticing the movement of vegetation planted in Southern California’s highway median by air displaced by moving vehicles on an otherwise still day. He quickly realized that a vast untapped source of nearly constant wind was readily available in every city. Since that fateful day, we have been recruiting scientists, engineers, and politicians to help him realize this vision. Today, Median Wind LLC is headquartered in San Diego with manufacturing plants in several states.
